Purpose and Popularity

Being a vessel for God is not about popularity--it is about purpose. Your purpose may or may not come with popularity. However, understand that if it does: You are held accountable for what you do with your platform. You are to handle that popularity with responsibility. Also understand that if your purpose does not come with popularity: You are not to seek or count on the accolades of man to validate you, your gifts, or your skills! (You are not to do that either way!) Know that your rewards come from God.

People will not always understand you, or your callings; and they will not always recognize or acknowledge your efforts; and those things are to be expected. However, those things are certainly not your problem or your concern. In both cases--a calling that comes with popularity, and a calling that calls for modesty: As long as you are doing the will of God, then you are on the righteous path! God's path is where your purpose is. Humbly remember that you are a vessel for God; and always do all things with love, and with God's purpose being the priority.

There may be times when you are tempted to share with someone, or with everyone, what God just used you for--but that may not be what God wants or is asking of you. Some things, God may want you to do discreetly. There are many reasons for that. One reason God will want you to privately help someone, is in the cases of protecting that person's privacy and sparing them feeling ashamed. They may feel too ashamed of their situation, and it can do more harm than good sharing what God has used you for in their lives. It is their testimony as well, and it is their personal life. There are times when you should certainly leave it up to them as to whether or not they will share your shared testimony because it is more about them than it is about you; and if they choose to, it will be when they are ready, and you should not take that decision away from them. A couple of other reasons that God may want you to be discreet in your missions for Him: Is to exercise or teach you humility. We are to be humble in our service to God, and in helping people. God may also want to test you. Not for Him, as God knows all things--but for you. Why so? Sometimes, God needs us to see the flaws in ourselves, as well as the places where we need to grow. This is so that we can be used in greater ways for The Lord, and so that we can become better people in life. In the case of God wanting to use you discreetly as a test: It will be so that you can see what your true intentions are. It will also be so that you can see whether you are more concerned with doing God's work, or with looking good before man. That information can help you in big ways. Self-awareness is needed for growth. God's conviction is love. Use what you've learned to improve, correct yourself, and continue to be used by God.

There are times when you will get no accolades, no recognition, no rounds of applause, no pats on the back, no support, no "good job!" said to you, no credit, no promotion offered to you by man, and no man-issued rewards--and you must learn to be okay with that, and stay okay with that! Do not seek validation of who you are, your self-worth, your gifts, or validation of any kind from man! It is God who validates you! It is God who has gifted, skilled, and qualified you! Man cannot do a lasting thing for you--except it be through God's assignments for them in your life, and even then, the glory still points back to and goes to God!

Remember to do things heartily and for the glory of God. Keep account of your true intentions. Maintain your humility. Remember Who has gifted you: God. Remember Who provides for you: God. Remember Who rewards you: God. Remember that your willingness to work for God or do something kind should not be about rewards; but about love, selflessness, kindness, and God's Will and His Love. Remember that sometimes: It is not about you. There are times when things will be solely about God, or will be solely be about God, or solely be about God and whomever He is reaching out to through you--but not about you, as you will only be the vessel--and you need to be absolutely fine with that. Do not let pride and wanting to shine get in the way of God's Will. Selfishness can cause destruction--in your life, and in the lives of others. God Word tells us:

"Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall."
-Proverbs 16:18 (KJV)

Always place God's Will as priority in your heart, and everything will always work out for the best.

Let's briefly talk about rewards and success. Sometimes, your rewards and feelings of success will not come in the forms of: Popularity, plaques, money, trophies, being highly spoken of by people in ways that you will find validation (but should not), or in other physical or vain ways. Sometimes, your rewards and feelings of success may come in the forms of: That good feeling inside that you get when you do something kind. Or, in the form of seeing a person that God has used you to help, smile. They also may come in the form of seeing someone's life change for the better, and in the warm feeling that you can get inside humbly knowing that God has blessed you to take part in those good changes--all glory to God. They may come in the form of a sincere "thank you", or a hug. Those things are beautiful. Cherish those moments as well--if not more.

Do not be concerned with popularity. Do not be concerned with the validation of man. Be concerned with God's Will and with His purpose for your life; And know that God always knows what's best for us! He knows what we can and cannot handle. He knows whether we should be hidden from, largely exposed to, or partially exposed to, the world or certain people. He knows what times and seasons are best for us to move or be still. He knows exactly who, and how many people that, He wants to reach through us--whether that is one person, or thousands of people. It's not always about numbers, but it is always about purpose. There is contentment in that fact. Completely trust God. Completely trusting in God's Will for your life is where your fulfillment is, and where it always will be.

I love you all, but Jesus loves you best of all! may God bless you!
